Electrolux Professional’s support leads to the Red Cross disaster respons around the world

Today, many millions of people across the globe suffer from the effects of climate change and, in addition, the corona pandemic has caused further suffering. Electrolux Professional, through the Electrolux Food Foundation, donates to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Emergency Fund, to support the most vulnerable people hit by unexpected disasters around the world.

The donations made through this fund provide emergency response and save lives in many countries across the world.

Among the countries where support is currently most needed is India, which has been hugely affected the corona crisis. Across the 550 districts where the Red Cross has a presence in the country, emergency health care and vaccination centers are being provided and set up. The thousands recently evacuated or displaced by a recent wave of cyclones are also being supported with food, clean water and hygiene essentials.

In 2020, the equivalent of approximately 400,000 meals were donated through the Food Foundation’s global partnership with the Red Cross, helping to reach countries and people most in need.

“We are proud to support the independent, non-profit organization Electrolux Food Foundation, and through their partnership with the Red Cross, enable help to the most vulnerable people in the world,” says Jacob Broberg, Senior VP, Corporate Communications and Investor Relations at Electrolux Professional.

Why has the Electrolux Food Foundation chosen to partner with the Red Cross?

“They are present in every country of the world, are globally renowned, have a passion for sustainability, and a long history of supporting people in need. It fits one of our two missions,” explains Ingrid Mellstig, Head of Electrolux Food Foundation.

Our other mission is to inspire and educate consumers and professionals in sustainable cooking and eating habits. In line with the SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) 12 and 17 of the 2030 Agenda.
